So far all my HDDs are still intact, but the saying about HDD is still true, ‘Its not ‘IF’ but ‘WHEN’ the hard disk will fail’.
Sooner or later, the mechanical parts will fail through wear and tear, too much heat, etc. Like other electronic equipment, you should be aware of its life expectancy. For HDD, I read that its around 3-5yrs or earlier.
Last September, I found out about Xyon Systems and Services through a business meeting. I haven’t tried their services yet, but I know some photographers who are satisfied with Christopher’s work. You can check their website here.
Hmm. I think I should google some of the best practices in backing up data and put them into practice. When backup fails (and they eventually will), only experts like Xyon Systems can help you recover your data and those precious, precious photos.

I saw this news this morning in yahoo.
Serendipity? Interesting
I thought to myself, is it possible here in our MRT and LRT?
I mean, how many people are commuting from Makati to North edsa, and vice-versa? Thousands right? But I don’t know anyone (aside from me
), who really experienced love at first sight.
So if you know someone who truly experienced love at first sight in trains, post a comment and let me know
Be blessed,
Marvin

‘ I’d rather have happiness than have you’
‘ I’d rather be happy than have you . If I had a choice, no question about it, I’d choose happiness’
Imagine somebody saying:
‘ How could you be so selfish that you’d choose happiness over me?’
‘ Would you want me to love you at the cost of my happiness? ” Yes’
‘She would love me at the cost of her happiness and I would love her at the cost of my happiness, and so you’ve got two unhappy people, but long live love!’
-Excerpt from Awareness by Anthony De Mello
Currently the books I’m reading right now.
Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog
I started reading books about him way back in High School along with Khalil Gibran.
Every time I read these books I get better perspective in life. It helps me to see the images that are not there in my photography. I hope you learn from him too.
Be blessed,
Marvin
I missed most of the fun in WPPP. I had several whole day trainings that I missed most of the seminars in Megamall.
What I managed to listen to was Jason Magbanua’s Time Shifting and How to Make Videos Look Like Film seminars.
I can tell from his talk that he’s really passionate about his craft. He talks so fast, much like how fast he edits his onsite videos.
His sample videos are really great. It takes so much confidence and character to share his style in videography. Truly a Master like him will never run out of new ways to make onsite videos.
It’s nice that Filipinos like Jason is bringing pride and respect to our country, by being the top 25 most influential videographer in the planet.
Big cheers to Jason.
Next year I will open my calendar for the WPPP event and hope to learn more from fellow photographers.

Marvin
I chanced upon this photo that I took also last February.
I still remember this because it was in Subic where we woke up very early to see the Hot Air Balloon for the first time.
When we got there the sun is just rising behind us. I noticed a local plant glowing in the sun. I thought this would be nice for my stock photo collection. I lie on my belly to get a nice composition. Its pretty hard to focus on the subject because of the intense light and reflection of the sun, but I got a nice shot after some manual adjustments.
As I look at it again, I remember a story from my One Minute Wisdom book by Anthony De Mello. It’s one of my favorites:
PRESENCE
” Where shall I look for Enlightenment?”
“Here.”
“When will it happen?”
“It is happening right now.”
“Then why don’t I experience it?”
“Because you do not look.”
“What should I look for?”
“Nothing. Just look.”
“At what?”
“Anything your eyes alight upon.”
“Must I look in a special kind of way?”
“No. The ordinary way will do.”
“But don’t I always look the ordinary way?”
“No.”
“Why ever not?”
“Because to look you must be here. You’re mostly somewhere else.”

Be blessed,
Marvin
One of the downsides of new technology in photography is we get more photos/images in less time. In just less than a year I managed to fill up my 200GB hard disk. Mostly photos. Now its time to ’spring clean’ my hard drive. While deciding which photos to archive or to delete, I found these images of a huge butterfly. I took these shots last February in Pulilan Bulacan, known for its butterfly farm.
Looking at the images now, I wonder what it looked like before it became a beautiful butterfly. What kind of caterpillar was it? Did it know that someday, it will be a butterfly? I found my answer.
“There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly”.

Last week, I had an opportunity to see first hand how love conquers distance, space and time. To most couples, long distance relationships don’t last very long. But some couples defy that rule, that’s the case for Manny and Joanne.
Though they work for the same company, Manny is assigned in New Jersey while Joanne stays in their Manila office. Despite the DST (distance, space and time), they are still in love with each other.
As a photographer, I’m thankful that I always see love in couples that I photograph.

The motorist made this ordinary kiss very interesting

Thanks to Manny and Joanne for spending the afternoon with me. Have a safe flight.
Stay in love,
Marvin
One of the perks of wedding photographers is that we get to meet new people every month or every week.
Last week I met Lanie and Noy.
This is for the photo souvenir design.
We had their photoshoot in St. James the Great in Alabang and The Palms.
It’s always a challenge to find good spots to shoot. It’s also a blessing that we had a nice weather.
Lanie and Noy are also very cooperative.
They are both from Laguna. Lanie is managing their family business and Noy is working in Alabang.
Despite the distance we travelled from Q.C. to Alabang, I enjoyed taking their photos.
To Lanie and Noy, thank you for the fun time.
Do you see the love (Heart)?

Shadow dance.

Flaring Kiss.

Be blessed,
Marvin
